Soft-serve ice cream is best avoided during pregnancy, as it may be contaminated with bacteria that could give you food poisoning.

Hard cheeses are safe, though, as are other cheeses that have been fully cooked and served piping hot. Cooking eggs until the yolk and white are firm will destroy any salmonella bacteria.
