What is listia

Either way you can read their sellers feedback. And if you read everything, it tells you if that auction has free shipping or not. And you can always apply the filter to show auctions only with free shipping. This site is amazing. As long as you pay attention to what you're doing. I've been with them for about 9 years. Hi Nikki. Thanks for the review and sharing your experience with the site. We hope you continue to enjoy being part of our community.

We appreciate you being a member :. I am being bullied by a seller who I bought things off of How do you stop a seller from bullying you on listia? She turned my words around, about everything i said and is so dishonest! I am ready to take further action. Hi Mandy. We're sorry to hear about your experience with another user. If you have not already, please go ahead and block the user.

If they have been persistently bothering you, please submit a support ticket with the username and we will look into things. It is never okay to be bullied by another user. We look forward to hearing from you. I used this site for several years and traded thousands of items!

It used to be the best site on the internet and super enjoyable. But then the Chinese started to list their cheap stuff, the owners switched to XNK instead of credits and the site went downhill rapidly.

Sad too, because I spent thousands shipping stuff free to other Listians on this site. Not anymore. I'm rarely on the site now so you can keep the worthless XNK I have left. I don't understand if you advertise Free Shipping then it should be just that.

I have noticed people being bold enough to post within their ads that the cost of a particular item is as such and figured using credit exchange ratio and adding into that figure the shipping cost.

Well let me be the first to inform anyone that figuring the cost of free shipping into the listing amounts is not free shipping and the moderators need to get on the ball sorting those people out and insisting they deduct the shipping amounts from their listings.

This needs to be dealt with asap. People don't like being taken advantage of. You can sort out only the free shipping listings but many of those post that free shipping has been added to the listing amounts. This is no fair Trading practices. First it was a great site to sell as other reviewers mention. But the credits devalue very quickly so I highly recommend you buy something as soon as you sell.

Also, there are a lot of foreign sellers now selling cheap foreign made items. This site use to have a big garage sale or flea market feel, now it has a "Big-Lots" feel to it. I like the site, I've been selling bitcoins here now for a while. Though I still am a bit suspicious about the waiting list to sell my credits How long does this even take normally? Hi Lef. Since it's a fairly new credit selling program, we are slowly rolling it out. We appreciate your patience and hopefully you are added soon :.

I'm really so upset about a problem that i'm having on Listia. I don't understand why the moderators dislike me so much. I have been enjoying this site for months I had a really good auction of an old Waltham Pocket Watch of my Dad's. A lot of people were interested in it and i got a nice high bid. The person that won gave me positive feedback. And a couple days later wanted his credits back. The moderator sided with him, without telling me why. I had not broken any rules. I guess the worst part is that i don't have , credits to refund.

So i'm sure i will end up banned soon. Very sad and upset :. Hi Janet. We're sorry to hear you're upset with the Admin's decision. If you haven't already, please submit a support ticket as we'd like to clarify the reason why the Admin refunded the credits to the Winner.

We want to make sure you know why this action was taken. Thank you. I like it it's almost like Angie's List but protecting businesses from fraud and scams thank you so much for helping me out site Jabber. This company used to be great according to my friends but when I dealt with them I just came to know that they are theifs. Company has turned into complete joke. Total scam now!

Now I avoid buying from other people on here unless I have built a relationship with them because i have been scammed too many times and listia's dispute team does pretty much nothing. Read everything, ask questions and if you don't feel comfortable don't bid simple! I only list NEW or slightly used items, and only bid on the same, I have had a couple of issues with buyers, but at the end of the day it's not worth it to argue with them, Listia is fun for me and I intended to keep it that way.

Hi Rikki, We're so glad to have a fan in you! And it sounds like you are enjoying the bidding and winnings! We're happy to have you in the Listia community. We hope your experience continues to be great! Listia is great, however it needs some improvements. To start off, it is very risky to send a package without tracking number, making it unnecessarily expensive for Listians who want to offer free shipping within the marketplace.

To counteract this, there should be a different way in which we can prove we sent out our packages, for example allowing us to record a video of us dropping the package at a USPS drop off point etc, this would encourage more "sellers" to add free shipping to their listings as it will reduce their overall expenses, after all this is a "free stuff" website, not eBay Why hasn't this already been put into place?

Trust me I studied economics Thanks for all the great ideas and suggestions. We are always open to listen to our users' feedback as we are always striving to improve our community's experience. Your ideas will definitely be noted and who knows, maybe they will be implemented one day :. It has some good and bad things.

First the good is I like you can ear points. Bad though is there is really not a lot of nice things you can earn with the points, people list their stuff way way way to high.

Also I don't like that you have to verify your address it is very annoying. Plus I got yelled at on Listia by a seller that listed an item that I had at home. They said that it was this really fine piece of jewelry but I know I bought the same exact piece at Walmart for 5 dollars. Also bidding is way to competitive. I feel like you never win anything. Hi Leah. Thanks for your review. We require an address verification to make sure the address is valid so that the Seller is not at a loss when the item is shipped and the item actually reaches it's destination.

As for the listings, since they are members' items, the type and value to the user will vary. We hope you can continue to use and enjoy Listia. Stacy L Some sellers can even display they really sent mail, they take digital photo when they send mail.

They can even show out. But because listia recoginze tracking code. Even if you can even display the mail and correct address correct person, showing u had really sent mail, because no tracking code.

Listia would still return all credit back to buyer. Its just a game even the verified people you cant trust to many children on listia and grown men that act like children. Listia is an online marketplace where you win other people's stuff using credits instead of money. All users on our site act as both a Buyer and Seller. If you are bidding on items you want from our site, you are considered a Buyer. If you are giving away items on our site, you are considered a Seller :.

They don't deal in cash, unless you want to buy listia credits. That being said, you can make some bank if you have a good product by what credits you make on it. Then, you could use those credits to bid on gift cards and more pricey stuff that has actual value.

I use the site for hard to find seeds, and it has been good for me. As for making money? Not so easy to see a real profit. I don't know. I have never tried and won't. Listia is garbage. Try Etsy or EBay. I list in both locations and eBay has an amazing 'buyer gets what they ordered or they get their money back' policy. Check it out. If you are having any bad issues with Listia, Been banned and you lost your credits? Paid for shipping, then banned? Usres are banned after sending outvaluables and loose your credits with no way to spend them?

Hundreds of usres aree being banned by inexperienced represenatives forno apparent reason. Have anissue you would like to discuss? Please Share! And post your issues.

The rules state you are allowed 3 accounts per house hold my son who doesnt live with me opened one my daughter who doesn't live with me opened one and I opened one no where on earth would this be considered 3 accounts in one household but when I had over 5oooo points and my daughter had nearly and my son had all three accounts were suspended in the same day stating we had multiple accounts when I asked them to show me my supposed other account they brought up my son's account and my daughters account when they provided proof that they lived in other towns the accounts were reinstated but with no points.

Then a few months later the same thing happened. Listia is a marketplace for Free Stuff where you can give away stuff you don't need anymore and get stuff you want in return for free. It's fun, free and very easy to use. Shopping Auction Share Share on Facebook.

So the choice is for you to investigate using that software also or see if you can be the last-second bidder; it's a risk and part of the game, it seems. There is a description of using that software in Listia Help tool.

I have never heard about Listia before. Your article not only presented it very well but cautioned us about the mistakes we can make using it. I might give it a try in the future. Great run down and review. I've used Listia for almost a year. I love it but agree it has its pitfalls. I almost always charge free shipping, however, you made quite a compelling argument that I'm now taking into consideration. I will say that one can offer free shipping on Listia and still manage to turn a profit by being strategic in your own auctions so as to get the most credits for your items, which in turn gives you buying power on Listia.

I then search for specific auctions where I can and do win nice items for a very reasonable and sometimes just downright low amount of credits. Then I turn around and sell those items on eBay. But there is one thing for sure, no matter how you play it, you absolutely have to be mindful and strategic on Listia in order to make it work for you. Lastly, I want to mention that Listia can be valuable in other ways. There are the bad apples out there, but overall, a great and tight knit community exists on Listia.

Also if you have any specific hobbies, chances are, Listia has a community of people with the same interests. I'm what is known as a "rock hounder" and I love collecting rocks and gemstones. I've learned so much and met so many other young female Rock hounders on Listia, and that is really valuable to me. I am always learning about new services here on Hub Pages. It sounds worth a shot, but the shipping could be a deal killer for me. Great hub! Some people will probably feel morally obligated to offer free shipping, but I don't think fairness really comes into the equation at all.

People can choose to bid only on auctions that offer free shipping, but most of my auctions that charge for shipping also get bids, which indicates that many Listia users don't mind paying shipping if they're getting something nice enough.

I also think Listia is essentially a capitalist micro-economy where self-interested behavior is not inherently bad for the community so long as it falls within the rules. I have been a member of Listia for many years and get much enjoyment out of the site!

I offer free shipping on all my auctions and only bid on auctions that offer free shipping in return. That is how Listia was meant to be. In your article you encourage people to charge shipping but only bid on auctions that are free. That's not exactly fair. Free goes both ways. It sounds complicated, but you have explained it well. I have only bought one item from Ebay, so am not very familiar with these types of sites. It sounds exciting to get rid of stuff, but I guess we like using the donation pick up Agencies.

I have never heard of Listia, so really enjoy learning about new experiences. Blessings, Audrey. Thanks for the break down. I had heard a little bit in the past about Listia. At this time I don't think that they are for me. Over all you break down and advice has been greatly appreciated. I can never get anything on there because everything always goes to several thousand points fast. Just in a couple of hours something I was watching went from a couple hundred to a couple thousand.

Can't seem to get anything because this always happens. I don't have enough things I could post that would get me points so I'd end up having to buy points if I wanted items and then that defeats the whole getting it for free from Listia thing which is why I would use Listia in the first place. So helpful!! I hate reading through the fine print, and your tips reduced all that to something much more digestible. Great information to have before taking the Listia plunge!

Thanks, grand old lady! Never heard about Listia till now. I appreciate that you have shared not only your experience, but the loopholes and have given advice on how to use it without having to go through those nasty loopholes. Good hub. Thanks, Christy. Your oh so right but the very thought of letting one-red cent of taxable income slip through their legislator hands drives them to unsentimental rage.

Thanks for reading, Alastar. That's really too bad that NC doesn't allow it. Hopefully they'll change their legislation at some point to allow residents more freedom to participate in online commerce. The sad thing is that the people those restrictions hurt most are usually lower income people just trying to make a little extra to get by.
